The City Re-Imagined

Paul Friedli
Head of Transit Management
Schindler, Ebikon

Current urban models no longer meet the needs of the massive growth in urban populations which is predicted to continue for the foreseeable future. To prevent a catastrophic decline in the standards of living that current urban dwellers enjoy, it is necessary to make radical changes to the overall structure of the city. The City Re-Imagined consisted of an in-depth examination of the problem and a series of proposed solutions. Paul Friedli, a world-renowned expert in this field, gave, with the aid of other relevant experts, a historical perspective on the current situation and explained how to dramatically improve it. The presentation showed how the subject of transit management holds the key to both what has gone wrong and how to fix it. A new development methodology based on renewed mobility concepts was covered.
