With an architectural height of 375 meters, Shenzhen Gemdale Gangxia Tower (Shenzhen Center) is a 72-story supertall structure that is categorized as complicated structural system. The perimeter columns, up to 54th floor along the tower, are curved and keep close and constant contact with the building skin. We adopted concrete-filled steel tube columns that degraded above the 54th floor at two diagonal regions, which replaced the vertical atrium trusses up to the 72nd floor to support the facade system. The center core wall is surrounded by the reinforced concrete core wall and setback to small closed core wall above 54th floor, acting as the main lateral structural system for the upper floors. To enhance the lateral stiffness of the building, two levels of outriggers are placed in at levels 23/24 and 53/54. This presentation looked at the performance objectives study, nonlinear time history dynamic analysis and proposed technical solutions as necessary.
